Welcome to the Jerome B. Houston, American Legion Post 150 - "THE BRYANT 150".
I am the _____________ of a veteran/active duty/reservist who has served at least one day of active duty and if discharged, has an honorable discharge.
☐ Female spouse or widow
☐ Male spouse or widow
☐ Daughter
☐ Granddaughter
☐ Mother
☐ Grandmother
☐ Sister
☐ I am a veteran eligible thru my own service – I understand I do not have to be a member of the American Legion.
☐ Per IRS regulations, step-relatives are not eligible, and the IRS also only allows two degrees of a blood line, so great granddaughters and beyond are not eligible.
If the veteran/service person through whom you are joining is living, they must be a current member of The Legion for you to be eligible to join the American Legion Auxiliary. You will need to know their American Legion ID number.
☐ I understand if the veteran through whom you are eligible is deceased, you may be required to provide documentation to verify their eligibility to the state you join or to a local auxiliary unit if you choose to transfer. Acceptable eligibility documents include:
o DD214 Discharge Papers
o Official military orders
o Official military service citations/awards
o Letters related to the veteran’s military service. Must be on official government letterhead
o Certificate from the VA records center in St. Louis
o Date from the back of older discharges
Information on a veteran’s service record can be obtained by contacting the National Archives and Records Administration at 1-866-272-6272 or www.archives.gov.
